Up until Ava's brother was born I had no desire to make the transition from crib to toddler bed; she hadn't been climbing out nor is she too big for a crib and if it ain't broken why fix it? But I did run into a problem; if I was tending to her brother when it was time for her to get out of bed she would have to wait, wait and sometimes wait some more till' I could grab her. So we decided to make the transition. Not only is she now able to get out of bed but now she is a part of her sleeping responsibility; instead of simply being put to bed she can now be actively involved by climbing into bed and getting out. There's often the fear that if a child is placed in a regular bed where they have more freedom then they will get in and out whenever they choose. We also had that fear until a friend told us about this awesome clock by Kid'Sleep.
Because my daughter is girl of system and order like her Mama she needed the stage to be prepped. We introduced this clock about a month before we made the BIG change.We explained to her that whenever the bunny is asleep she too needed to be sleeping or resting. Once the bunny is awake she could call out to us and we would come in to get her up. She got the idea rather quickly and loved being part of her sleeping routine.
So, off came the front slat of her crib and on went a little rail with enough space for her to climb in and out. She's been in it for over a week now. We love watching our sweet girl in the monitor patiently wait for the bunny to wake up so she can too. We have the clock set for the time she typically wakes up from a nap or nighttime sleep and if she sleeps longer the bunny is awake waiting for her. The clock has a feature for a sound alarm but we never set it because we would much rather her sleep longer than be woken up.
The Medstud and I LOVE hearing her bedroom door swing open and seeing her run out of the room.

The clock is simply amazing. But I also do have to give credit to our sweet girl. She is incredibly responsible and obedient. And if she understands whats expected of her and what to expect over-all she typically does a great job listening and following through.
We love her to itsy bitsy pieces. She is truly a JOY!
